What is Honeysuckle Hill Nature Discovery Center? Its a great place to learn more about nature! We provide all kinds of hands on experiences like rearing butterflies from the egg to release, composting for kids and adults, vermicomposting with worms, bird watching and why insects are important to them and other animals, gardening, landscaping, plant propagation, wreath making with materials harvested from the gardens, and a whole lot more. Come see for yourself!

When is HHNDC open? We do not have regular visiting hours except during scheduled events, you may call or text 304-465-8974 to schedule a visit.

How long does it take to tour the gardens? We provide guided walking tours of the gardens and exhibits for groups which may last 20 minutes to over an hour depending on the groups size and interests including question and answer sessions.

Do you have volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals? Yes, we welcome groups and individuals. The extensive gardens require a lot of maintenance. During the growing season there are multiple tasks at any given time. We need volunteers like you to make the gardens shine!

What happens during a student field trip? Welcome, tour of gardens and exhibits 20-30 minutes. Break out into smaller groups with 1-2 hands on nature based activities. During the activity rotation session students usually have time to revisit favorite garden areas. Some groups bring their lunch to enjoy after or before the tour and activities. Most student field trips last about 2 hours if not bringing lunch.

When can I visit HHNDC? We currently do not have regular visiting hours, so you will need to call or text 304-465-8974 before your visit. We are usually here Monday - Wednesday doing maintenance, so its no problem to schedule a visit, sometimes even on short notice. Just give us a call.

Can I bring my pet? We love pets, unfortunately our small site is not appropriate for pets.

Is HHNDC in Fayetteville or Oak Hill? WELL, THE ANSWER GETS CONFUSING!

We are actually in Oak Hill, but our mailing address and 911 location are Fayetteville. AND some folk’s GPS takes them on a scenic route before finally arriving here! Please make sure you access through 1151 Terry Avenue, otherwise it will guide you on an undesirable scenic route!
